Not too much changed at The Lake despite the warmup and refreeze. Everything on the south end is still good. Float, 20 Below, Glass, etc. Last Gent looks pretty good. Who's Who might be doable now but pretty thin down low. I couldn't see the lower part of Prom from the road but the crux column is not in. Mindbender amphitheater looks a little worse for wear but still decent. Plug N' Chug took the worst hit. Pipe Dreams, left of Called, has been hanging around for a week now but was completely delaminated last week and looks a bit rotten at the bottom now. I had high hopes for 5 Musketeers with the refreeze but no luck. The slabs on Mt. Hor look good and Woober Goober gully is good too.

A party on the Central tablets today.

Woober Goober Gully, WI3/3+, on Mt. Hor starts in the slot in the middle. (photo below)

Your reports always help Alden. Tks!
Is there a name for the slab ice line just right of Woober Goober ? (red dots)

Hi Pat, I don't know the name. It was a lot fatter last winter and was a fun solo then. It's not really listed in the Ice Climber's Guide to Northern New England by Lewis and Wilcox. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of good info about all the routes on that side of the lake but most of the obvious stuff has been done. People have been climbing stuff over there since the mid-1970's !!!!
I'm sure you saw that the slabs (WI2+-3+) to the north on that side are in good shape right now too!

Yeh, that's a great place to have a change ..and solitude.
I've been on the further northern slab last year while the lake was sinking (april).
No, I don't wanna claim a first climb but just put names on lines :)
Tks and have a nice week-end!
