Some of you may have noticed that Rambo 4s don't work well with modern, rockered boots. You end up with a toe gap between the boot and the crampon. The trick, I've found, is to have a metal guy. Ideally this metal guy is a classic VT type, 100% expert in his craft, intrigued/amazed by your crazy sport, genial and creative. If you've got such a guy, the solution looks like this:

Tell me that doesn't totally wreck the temper of the steel.

It does not. I actually don't know anything about it, but my guy makes all sorts of things for a living, including these steel boilers that have to be watertight and extremely tolerant of high temperatures. He was talking about these specific types of steel and molecule alignment and long story short, I couldn't follow it, but I'm 0% worried about them breaking at the weld.

He's also the guy that made me aluminum snow-picks for my tools last fall for a Patagonia trip.

Yeah, the Rambo 4s don't fit on the Spantics, I've thought of cutting the L angle to allow them to pivot, my partner decided to sell them and go back to using the G14s.

Luc, PM me and I'll connect you to my guy, if you want. I also considered cutting the L angle, but this turned out to be a much, much better solution.
