In September 2017, Justin Guarino and Nick Aiello-Popeo had the good fortune to travel to India, with the help of the American Alpine Club's McNeil-Nott award. Neither climber had ever been to Asia, and they never imagined the scale of the adventure they were in for. Come hear the report of their attempt to climb a technical route on an unclimbed 6,000-meter peak.

From Nick: "We were already deep in the Indian Himalaya when he dropped the bomb: "It was so funny," our amiable liaison officer, Sanjeev, told us over dinner, "the foreign climbers had been using a satellite phone, so the Army came to base camp and arrested them all!" As the implication of these words sank in, Justin and I realized that -- of the many pieces of this expedition -- the actual climbing just might be one of the more simple parts. If we ever got to it."
