We arrived at the NFOP parking lot at 9:45 yesterday and we were the first car in the lot. A miracle? We were surprised, the girls were surprised that the crowds last weekend weren't back. Town seemed empty and no one was on the road last night. We thought Christmas, maybe something else... than I checked the forecast, DOH!

The unreal amount of rain that came down last night has ruined almost everything I saw today. We stopped at Chapel Pond around lunchtime. Chouinard's, Power Play and Dogleg looked sad. CIT looked very thin but as held up the best. I heard in the Mountaineer that everything in the Canyon is running water. Roaring Brook Falls had the most water I've ever seen pouring down it.

We drove over to Chiller Pillar. CP was lean but still bonded. Toprope-able? We didn't knock anything down, wouldn't call it ice climbing and got completely soaked. At least we swung the tools.

The way things are today and the forecast this week I would say don't plan on climbing for a couple days at least.

I drove by Roaring Brook Falls on the way to Manhattan this morning. I would love to see some pics from someone who's climbed it today on. In 24 hours RBF went from rushing water to ice. Looked unreal!

Looks like everything's back in shape. Don't listen that BS I wrote two days ago.

I left the area and did some shopping, some business and took my wife out on the town in NYC. It wasn't a total loss. I was told the ice wouldn't get back into shape for a few days at least. Obviously that advice was worthless. Just wanted to set the record straight ASAP.
