Me and Max are on our way to Pakistan, objective : the unclimbed north face of K6 (if Steve, Marko and Vince havn’t yet climbed it!! )
We will be in Islamabad in 3 days and with some luck, in Skardu towards the end of the week, from where we will still be able to send and receive emails.
We’ll have a Thuraya Sat phone and here’s the website https://sms.thuraya.com/ from which you can send us free sms. I will send you the phone number as soon as possible.
My beloved sister will be in charge of transferring messages to you all (this explains the unhidden emails, sorry for this, I had to transfer her the addresses!)

I hope everyone is well!
My name is Marianne, Louis-Philippe's sister. Indeed, I will be keeping you posted on LP and Maxime's adventure to Pakistan. I simply wanted to say that I will do my best to transmit all information that he shares with me.
They both enjoyed their day in New York and were able to get some rest. Tonight, at around 9h30, LP called me from the airport in Islamabad.
Fortunately, they have all their luggage including one, soaked in 'energy gel'. Detail.
Their were waiting for their friends Scott and Kelly, whom were waiting for their own luggage. Once united and ready, they were headed outside to meet their guide, Goulam.
They're excited, we wish them a good start.

Je me présente, je m'appelle Marianne, la soeur de Louis-Philippe. Je vous envoierai des mises à jour de la superbe aventure de LP & Maxime au Pakistan. Je veux simplement vous dire
que je ferai mon possible en vous transmettant toute l'information qu'il me partagera.
Les deux aventuriers ont passé une excellente journée à New York et ils ont pu relaxer un peu. Ce soir, vers les 21h30, LP m'a appelé de l'aéroport à Islamabad.
Ils ont tous leurs sacs dont un, imbibé d'un espèce de 'gel énergétique'. Détail.
Ils attendaient leurs amis Scott et Kelly, qui à leur tour attendaient leurs bagagges. Une fois réunis et prêt à partir, ils allaient rejoindre leur guide, Goulam, à l'extérieur.
Ils sont crinqués, nous leur souhaitons un bon départ!

Salamalikoum !
The chaotic Islamabad revisited! I must say the people here are so warm and hospitable; it’s easy to forget the ongoing noise and pollution in this busy city.
Today, a tiring one, with the 2 days without any sleep really, we arrived in Islamabad (we have all our luggage this time!), met with Kelly and Scott (our 2 American companions), the hotel, Minister of tourism, permits, security deposit with the army, meeting with our liaison officer, last minute shopping…Yikes! Tonight, I hope to have a good sleep as we are waking at 6h30 tomorrow and hopefully jump on the plane that would take us directly to Skardu.
Kelly and Scott are good people, I think we’re all going to get along great...

Salamalikoum!
Je retrouve enfin le caos d'Islamabad, mais les gens d'ici si hospitalier et chaleureux me font vite oublier le bruit et la pollution de cette ville qui grouille comme une fourmilière!
Aujourd'hui grosse journée malgré les 2 jours d'avion sans vraiment dormir...: arrivés a Islamabad (nous avons tous nos sacs cette fois-ci!!!), rencontre avec Kelly et Scott (nos 2 compagnons américains), hôtel, Ministère du tourisme, permis, dépôt de sécurité à l'armée, rencontre avec notre officier de liaison, dernières emplettes... ouff! Ce soir j'espère bien dormir car demain lever 6h30 pour tenter de prendre l'avion qui nous acheminera a Skardu.
Kelly et Scott sont des bons vivants, je crois qu'on va très bien s'entendre ensemble...

Chance is on our side once again; we managed to take the plane for Skardu this morning and were able to take off without any problems, thus avoiding a long and treacherous bus ride lasting 2 days on a sketchy road! And now, with the rain pouring down on the village, I don’t believe there will be other flights for at least a couple of days.
Skardu is located at the most northern part of Pakistan. The city is mainly a long avenue filled with people, motorbikes, cars and tractors skirting around alongside many different shops and stores. The air is filled of dust and it reeks of gasoline, so we are looking forward to our departure for the mountains. I must say however, the villagers are very friendly and it is the last place where we will be able to take advantage of minimal comfort such as a shower! We appreciate our time spent here.
One more day here to relax before we begin our trek towards the region of Hushe.

La chance est avec nous encore pour ce voyage, nous avons pris l'avion pour Skardu ce matin et pu s'envoler sans problèmes (nous évitant ainsi 2 jours de bus sur une route plutôt chaotique!) Et voici que la pluie s'abbat sur ce village complètement entouré de montagnes, alors je ne crois pas qu'il y aura d'autres vols pour les prochains jours.
Skardu est une des villes les plus au nord du Pakistan, c'est principalement une grande avenue grouillante de gens, de motos, d'autos et tracteurs entoure de nombreux commerces de toute sorte. L'air est remplie de poussière et ca sent le pétrole consomme, alors disons que le départ pour les montagnes ne se fait pas trop attendre. Malgré tout, les habitants sont tellement sympathique et c'est aussi le dernier endroit pour un minimum de confort (lire : prendre une douche! ;) ) que nous apprécions notre séjour ici.
Nous resterons donc une journée de plus ici à se reposer avant de commencer notre trek vers la région de Hushe sûrement le lendemain.

Lp and Max are well. They are encountering a few communication problems with their liaison officer (he did not give me any details), but they seem to have found some kind of understanding…
My brother has announced this would be the last time he would communicate by email since they are leaving first thing tomorrow for their trek. He will contact me by telephone as soon as he has news to share with us.
It has begun!

Lp et Max vont bien. Mise à part quelques problèmes de communications avec leur officier de liaison (il ne m’a pas laissé de détails), mais ils semblent avoir réglé le tout…
Mon frère m’annonce que c’est la dernière fois qu’il communique via courriel puisque qu’ils partent demain pour le trek. Il me contactera par téléphone lorsqu’il aura des nouvelles à nous partager.
C’est parti !

Hello to the world of Max and LP,
I recieved a phone call today from Max from the base camp of K6 and K7. All is well.
The team all has headaches but this is a completely normal part of aclimitization. They're going to have a rest day tomorrow, then take a little tour of the glaciers around camp, and then possibly attempt some of the smaller peaks surrounding camp, both for acclimitization and new routing....
Max said to me "The North Face of K6 is INCREDIBLE!! I have never seen such a huge wall like this. it may be 9000 feet of steep, beautiful rock." Base camp is like a beach, sand all around, and surrounded by smaller unclimbed peaks, and tons of boulders to boulder on.
THey are all very happy. They have now met up with Americans (and
solvenian) Steve House, Vince Anderson, and Marko Pretzl, who have already done two new routes in the process of aclimitizing. Base Camp is a big party!!
Kelly (the guy on the other team on the permit, trying K7) recieved a little gift today. He thought at first that his girlfriend was very sweet, but for all of you who were at the going away BBQ for Max and LP you know the black lacy, fat lady's underwear that LP was sporting.... It's an old joke between Kelly and me from an expedition in Alaska. Max put the Underwear in Kelly's bag on the way to basecamp. When he opened them and saw the size he knew where they came from and that they were a joke from Max and I....Everyone ended up in hysterics.....
Watch out LP and Max, they might just end up in your bag!!
Anyways, everyone is in good spirits and hoping for more good weather..

La Deuxieme Rapport de Max et LP!!

Salut le monde de Max et LP!!
J'ai recu une appele aujurd hui de Max, de Camp Base de K6 et K7....Tout se passer bien. Tout l'equipe ont les mal a tete une peu au cause d'altitude, mais c'est telement normal...Ils va passer une jour de repas demain, et apres fait une petit rando dans les glaciers pour faire l'aclimitization et apres, peut-etre les petits sommets de roche!! Max m'a dit "Le muir de K6 c'est telement impressionante!
J'ai pas vu une muir assez grand comme ca. C'est vraiment 3000 metre je pense de roche raide, et c'est super beau!" Le camp base c'est comme une grand plage, avec la sable et beaucoup de roche pour fait du bloc, et il y a plusierus montagnes plus petite autour pour faire les nouvelle voies et faire l'aclimitiztion.
Ils ont tout hereuse. Les Americans (et une Slovenian) Steve House, Vince Anderson, et Marko Pretzl, sont deja la bas, et entraine de fair l'aclimitization. Ils ont deja fait deux nouveaux voies...C'est comme une grand fete a la camp base.
Kelly (le mec qui va essayer K7, dans l'autre equipe qui partage le
permis) a recu une cadeau aujurd hui....Il avait pensait au debout que sa blonde c'est tres sympa, mais pour toute qu'ont etaient a la BBQ de Max et LP, vous savez les coulettes noir que LP avait habille!! C'est une blague entre moi et Kelly d'une expe a Alaska....Max avait mis les GRAND coullettes de dent la baggage de Kelly en train d'est alle Camp Base!! Et il y avait trouve aujurd hui!! Et quand il a vu le taille il avait savoir que c'est une blague entre Max et Moi!! Et tout le monde etait rigolo!!
Attension Max et LP, peut etre on va trouver les coulettes dans tes sacs en route de K6
Et alors, la group c'est tout dans le bon espirit!!

The first Report from LP and Max....was having some technical problems with this email list....but now it's all a go!! From the 24th of Aug I think??
Hello Everyone,
I want to introduce myself, I am Zoe, Max's girlfriend, who will send you the other half of the communications.
I spoke with Max last night and he said they will take a Jeep up to the Charakusa Valley today and then begin the trek to base camp. They would like to try to do the trek in two days but it depends on the Porters who would like to do it in three.
As you may have already heard from Marianne, the boys had lots of luck with all their baggage arriving, the good weather and a flight to Skardu, and everyone is in good health.
The only problem they have had so far is with the Liason Officer.
They are required to provide the LO with all the materials he needs to be warm and healty at base camp. But, the LO didn't like a few of the things they had brought him. Maybe he was jealous of their two man sleeping bag and didn't want to be left out??!!@@** So they spent the day purchasing new stuff for him and in the end I think it is all good.
They are all in really good spirits and excited to head into the mountains. The last time I spoke with Max they were drinking Margaritas, so I think life is pretty good.

Bonjour a tous!!
Je vous introduissez, je suis Zoe, la blonde de Max qui vous donne les communications de Max aussi. Desole pour le mauvais francais, mais je suis une Anglophone, qu'essayer a apprendre Francais.
J'ai parle avec Max hier soir et il m'a dit qu'ils va apprendre und Jeep a la Charakusa Vallee aujurd hui, et apres faisait du trekking a camp base. Ils voulent fair le trek dans deux jours mais ca c'est dependant dans les Porters qui veux faire le trek dans trois jours.

Max et LP ont besoin de donner tout les choses pour le Liason Officer, comme les sleeping, les doudoun, etc. Et il avait ni'aime pas quel ques choses.....Peut-etre il est jaloux qu'il peut pas partage le Sleeping pour deux personnes avec Max et LP??!!@**..Ils ont passe la journee acheter les nouvelle choses pour le LO et enfin je pense que tout va bien.
Ils ont tout dans le bon esprit et le bon sante, et tres bien excite a aller dans les montagnes....Le derniere fois j'ai parle avec Max il etait en train de boire des Margaritas, je pense que c'est pas trop mal.

Louis-Philippe and Maxime arrived at the base camp, after 2 days of trekking, where they met another team already stationed. They had a little fiesta! They are doing very well and are in great shape! The mountains are beautiful as well as the weather. During the next few days, they will take the time to acclimatize themselves to their new environment.

Louis-Philippe et Maxime sont arrivés au camp de base après 2 jours de trek; où ils ont rencontré une autre équipe. Ils ont fait la ‘fiesta’! Ils vont très bien et ils sont en pleine santé! Les montagnes sont magnifiques et la température est bonne. Dans les prochains jours, ils profiteront de ces derniers pour s’acclimater à leur nouvel environnement.

Hello Everyone!
I got a call from Max this morning...he said everyone is feeling much better with a few days of aclimitization. The weather has been good the past few days, but now it is a little more variable, though not too bad. They hope to head up and try a new route on a 5,200 m peak not far from camp tomorrow. They are ready to start acclimatizin higher up in preperation for K6.
This morning everyone at base camp, Steve, Vince, Marko (the guys from the other team sharing base camp), Kelly, Scott, LP, and Max did a bunch of bouldering right in camp. Max said it was a really good spirit with the whole group and everyone was laughing, smiling, and pushing each other. They did a bunch of "HIGH BALL" problems, where you are quite hugh off the ground. It seems like there is a really good rappor between the groups despite the fact that they are both gunning for the first ascent of K6, it is more encouraging, than competitive. The comradery sounds GREAT!!

Salut le monde....J'ai juste recu une appele ce matin de Max. Tout l'equipe sens telement miex avec quel ques journees d'acclimatation.
La meteo etait bon les dernier quel ques jours mais maintenant c'est une peu variable, mais pas trop mal. Demain ils veulent essayer une nouveau voie dans une petit sommet de 5,200 m pas trop loin de Camp Base. Ils sont pret pour s'acclimater plus haut en preparation pour K6.
Ce matin, tout le monde a Camp Base, Vince, Steve, et Marko (l'autre equipe qui partager le Camp Base), Kelly, Scott, LP et Max avaient fait beaucoup de Bloc just a cote de camp. Max m'avait dit qu' etait telement sympa l'esprit de tout la group!! Et ils ont fait beaucoup de "HIGH BALL" les problems de bloc tres haut!! Tout le monde sourire et rire beaucoup. Il semble qu'il y a une tres bon esprit entre tout la group bien qu'ils veulent faire le meme montagne pour le premiere fois. Le spirit entre les equipes c'encourageant pas competitif.
